Construction

In June 2018, Abhayagiri celebrated the completion of its new Reception Hall. The result of six years of work, the new reception hall features a meditation hall, kitchen, library, and other facilities, and will serve as a center for monastic and lay activities in years to come. The community would like to extend its gratitude to all those in the US and abroad whose generosity supported the project. Its completion marks an important landmark in the life of the monastery and confirms Abhayagiri as a primary refuge of Dhamma practice in North America.

For the time being, Abhayagiri will not begin any new construction. Next year, the community might begin thinking about its next phase, which would involve building new kutis.
